Numbers and nouns with ЧЕРЕЗ, НАЗАД
A week ago / In a week
In order to say that something happened “a week ago” or will happen “in a week”, you should know the words ЧЕРЕЗ (in) and НАЗАД (ago). These words are also used when answering questions that start with КОГДА (when).
The preposition "через" (in)
ЧЕРЕЗ + [numeral] + [noun for time period] describes actions that will be taking place in the future, as in the following example:

He will arrive in two days. |
The adverb "назад" (ago)
For actions that happened in the past, use the construction: [numeral] + [noun for time period] + НАЗАД
| Он приехал два дня назад. [oh pree-YEH-khal dvah dnya nah-ZAHT] |
He arrived two days ago. |
Note that word order is important in both constructions, so try to place the preposition ЧЕРЕЗ before the numeral, and place the adverb НАЗАД after the noun. The good news is that you don’t have to worry about conjugation of the word ОДИН because you can omit it and still be speaking perfect Russian. In fact, Russians often omit the words ОДНУ or ОДИН when saying phrases like "in a week" or "a week ago".
